This has been on my mind for a while but despite how fearless I like to believe I am, it took a while to persuade myself that I can be an authority on the ungoogleable aspects of start-up life. No one knows more about my own start-up experience than me and that’s the purpose of this blog: to tell my story to people in a similar position to me.
Oh, I should probably introduce myself. I’m Bleggs. I’ve been working on a fabulous business called MOD. TO MEASURE that will, hopefully, solve many of your African tailoring woes.
(Lesson #1: be your own hype man)
MOD. TO MEASURE has been in the pipeline for almost two years and the process has been exhausting but extremely educational. However, I’ve made so many mistakes that could have been avoided if Google had all the answers (it doesn’t) or if I had someone to guide me along the way.
I think the idea of keeping my learnings a secret is ridiculous. As I started writing this, my beloved iPod played the Destiny’s Child classic ‘Independent Women’ and this line is me all over:
“If you’re gonna brag make sure it’s your money flaunt
Depend on no one else to give you want”
BE YOUR OWN HYPE MAN and, more importantly, be financially independent.
Business With Bleggs is not a start-up rulebook. It’s simply me chronicling my journey, sharing the events that have shaped it and the emotional turmoil that comes with it. This blog isn’t just about business in the general sense; it’s also about *my* business. I might just decide to write about the love of my musical life (Prince!) or my upcoming graduation or the wonderful projects that the people around me are setting up. MOD. TO MEASURE is my life now, as is Business With Bleggs, but they’re not who I am.
Anyway, that’s just a bit about the blog; I’ll definitely give you a more detailed post about me later on. I’d love for this blog to be interactive so let me know what you think by commenting or tweeting me. I’m excited to see where this goes and hope you are too!
